John Miller– Head Coach – Board President
John is the Head Coach of the Apple Valley High School Trap Shooting Club. He serves on the States Coaches Advisory Council for the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League. John has mentored many new high school teams in the league from throughout the State. He is an NRA/ATA Shotgun Coach, Level I in addition to being an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer. He has been a DNR Certified Firearms Safety Instructor for the past 20 years teaching over 4,200 students. John is also a DNR Certified Advanced Hunter Education Instructor. He is a member of the Minneapolis Gun Club, Dakota County Gun Club and Traxler’s Hunting Preserve.
John is an avid trap shooter and began shooting registered targets with the Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA) at the age of 14. He is a member of the NWTF and Pheasants Forever. John is an avid hunter and fisherman. In the fall, you will find him and his German shorthaired pointer chasing pheasants in the upland fields of Minnesota and South Dakota and/or hunting big game in Wyoming. John works with a variety of youth shooting events for the NWTF and the Dakota County Gun Club where new shooters are introduced to the shooting sports. He’s coached youth sports for multiple years in Apple Valley and has lived in the district since 1987.
